My daughter married into the McCrary family that has a long history of USN service going back to CAPT. Frank R McCrary USNA 1901. There’s a summary of his service in ‘CONTACT’ which states he is recognized as the first USN officer to qualify as a free balloon and LTA pilot. He operated the DN-1.
Is he recognized as LTA #1 by your LTA colleagues?
